A New Blog is Born

For a long time, I've been aware of serving opportunities that are perhaps indirectly related to my church (Hillside Wesleyan) or to the young adult group I go to (Watershed), but they aren't really a good fit for those organizations to truly sponsor and publicize. I've often wondered, "How can I connect the needs I see with the people who may be able to meet the needs.. and still maintain my sanity and my day job?" I can't meet all the needs myself, and I can't spend all day forwarding emails, but I still think I have a role to play.

Finally, I came up with the idea to create a blog specifically focused on serving opportunities. These will be opportunities that I (Joe) am aware of, and they are not necessarily sponsored by any organization. The idea is to "link the arms" so to speak between people in need and people who can help, often in informal, small-scale, and quick-response ways.

We'll see whether this proves useful or not. If enough people are willing to check in on this blog somewhat frequently, maybe it'll be beneficial. We'll see. Along the way, maybe I'll try to teach people about RSS and how to make it easy to see updates that are made to this blog.
